Dr. Jian Chen

Dr. Jian Chen is the Chief Architect of cloud server infrastructure in Alibaba Cloud, where he leads many performance and architecture initiatives to bring core competence in the area of general-purpose computing. His work ranges from CPU customization for next-gen servers, workload characterization and performance analysis, high-speed interconnection technologies to disaggregated server architectures. Before joining Alibaba, Jian worked at Intel on the design and performance modeling of StormLake high-performance switch and KnightsHill processor. He holds over 12 patents and has authored over 20 papers in top-tier conferences/journals. Jian received his B.S. degree from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and his Ph.D. degree in computer engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
